DESCRIPTION:\nJoin us on Tuesday, October 22, 2019, for our Membership Meeting on "Finding Basis - It's Not Always Where You Thought it Was", presented by Howard M. Zaritsky, J.D., LL.M.\n \n \n \nAbout the Presentation:\n \nSince the 2017 tax law changes, maximizing basis has quickly overtaken minimizing estate taxes as the primary tax goal of many clients. This raises new planning questions that demand new answers. \n \nThe presentation will cover questions like:\n How do you draft (or modify) a nonmarital trust to allow inclusion of some or all of the appreciated assets in the surviving spouse's gross estate in order to maximize basis adjustments?  How do you modify an existing irrevocable trust to cause inclusion of its appreciated assets in the gross estate of a grantor who suddenly has unused exemption amount? How do you obtain a basis increase on both halves of joint property when the first spouse dies, and again when the surviving spouse dies? ------\n\nAbout the Speaker:\n \n \n \nHoward M.
